Mass Jaathara is Ravi Teja’s 75th movie with Sreeleela as female lead, Naveen Chandra as villain. Rajendra Prasad, Samudrakhani, Hyper Adi, Ajay Ghosh and Naresh played other important roles. Directed by Bhanu Boghavarpu, with music by Bheems and cinematography handled by Vidhu Ayyanna. This movie is produced under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Films.
Story:
Lakshman (Ravi Teja) is a sincere railway police officer who can’t withstand any crime or atrocity within his vicinity and lives happily with his grandfather (Rajendra Prasad). Shivudu (Naveen Chandra) is a notorious drug lord operating from a village near Manyam. At one point, Lakshman gets transferred to the same village where Shivudu runs his drug business.
How do these two cross paths? Who is Sreeleela in this story and how is she connected to Shivudu? Did Lakshman stop the drug business or not? Forms the rest of the plot.
On-Screen Performances:
Ravi Teja as Lakshman oozes bundles of energy and it’s good to see him in his comfort zone again. Being a mass film, this gave ample space for him to display all his strengths. There are a few scenes that connect with vintage Ravi Teja films and they will be a treat for fans.
Sree Leela: Her role is not well written except for one twist. She does her part in her usual style, but there’s not much to talk about otherwise.
Naveen Chandra: Plays the main antagonist and is fantastic in parts. However, the flaw lies in the writing of his role — the character starts strong but never challenges the hero as expected. Still, his presence is impressive and it’s good to see him in such roles.
Rajendra Prasad is slightly loud. Hyper Adi and Ajay Ghosh provide a few laughs. Samudrakhani gets a tiny role and is not impactful.
Analysis:
We have a set pattern when it comes to mass commercial films — hero, villain, challenge, songs, comedy, and a climax. Many follow the same formula, and what sets some apart is the scene designing and writing. Mass Jaathara is no exception.
The movie starts with a solid introduction but lacks freshness in writing. The comedy in the first half involving Rajendra Prasad, Hyper Adi, and Ajay Ghosh is average — not bad but not memorable either. The “DeviPriya” track that was intended to evoke laughs falls flat, showing the director’s weak grip on humor.
Naveen Chandra’s introduction is terrific, and we expect a menacing showdown, but the character never pushes the hero hard enough. In commercial films, the villain should be twice as strong as the hero for the payoff to work — this crucial element is missing here.
The character “Patro,” hyped as a major twist, is poorly revealed and ends without impact. Even with talented artists like Hyper Adi, Ajay Ghosh, Naresh, and Praveen, none are used to their potential.
The big relief comes in the second half with an excellent fight sequence and the hero’s challenge to the villain — pure mass treat and a moment of madness for fans. If the film had two more such high-impact blocks, it could have been a winner.
With such a build-up and Patro’s setup, one expects a high-octane climax, but it ends up as just an okayish finish — too loud and too cinematic.
Music by Bheems is energetic but overpowering, especially in the climax. At times it gets hard to sit through the noise. A couple of songs are good.
Camera work by Vidhu Ayyanna is fantastic — the night scenes are beautifully shot with perfect lighting.
Editing could have been crisper in both halves.

Drawbacks:
1.Gets predictable at times.

Verdict:
Mass Jaathara begins on an interesting note but gets predictable as it progresses. Apart from a solid fight block in the second half and Ravi Teja’s vintage energy, there’s nothing new here. Pick it up on OTT unless you’re a hardcore Ravi Teja fan.
