Hyderabad, which witnessed heavy rainfall overnight, has recorded rainfall of up to 212 mm. The torrential rain has left many areas flooded and reminded people what happened during the devastating floods in October last year.
Areas in Dilsukhnagar, Chaitanyapuri, Kamalanagar and other places were submerged with rainwater. Many colonies in the Chaitanyapuri area were inundated due to heavy flooding in the Saroor Nagar pond. Floodwaters filled the streets.
The streets of the P&T Colony in Dilsukhnagar and VV Colony in Kodandaram Nagar are looked like rivers. People were evacuated to safer areas. Heavy flood water reached the RTC depot in Hayathnagar. GHMC Disaster teams carried out relief operations in flood-hit areas under LB Nagar and Uppal constituencies.
The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has revealed the details of the rainfall recorded from 8.30 pm on Wednesday to 5 am on Thursday. The highest rainfall of 21.2 cm was recorded at Nagol Bandlaguda, 19.2 cm at Prashant Nagar, 19 cm at Hastinapuram, 17.9 cm at Saroor Nagar and 17.1 cm at Hayathnagar.
