It is a known fact that digital platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix have been setting the rules for movie releases, from streaming dates to theatrical release schedules. Many top producers in Tollywood have had to agree to their demands since these platforms help recover significant investments through digital deals. In some cases, they even ask producers to show the entire movie before release to finalize the deal.
However, actor-producer Manchu Vishnu is taking a stand against this trend. His upcoming film Kannappa, made on a massive ₹100 crore budget, features big stars like Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal in key roles and cameos. Both Amazon Prime and Netflix requested to see the movie before making a deal, but Manchu Vishnu refused.
Instead, he plans to release Kannappa in theaters on April 25th without finalizing digital or satellite deals. He is confident that if the film becomes a blockbuster, the digital platforms will pay a higher price for the rights later. His bold approach reflects his strong belief in the success of Kannappa.
