Amaravati: State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh announced in the Assembly that the Andhra Pradesh government will soon launch Manamitra 2.0 after completing a major process re-engineering exercise. He said the government is working to make the Manamitra platform more user-friendly with AI integration and faster services.

At present, 943 services are being delivered through the Manamitra platform across the state. So far, 1.48 crore services have been provided through the app and its WhatsApp interface. The government is also collecting user feedback on WhatsApp services to improve performance and resolve technical issues.

During the discussion, Adoni MLA Parthasarathi appreciated the initiative, stating that WhatsApp-based services are saving time and are being offered free of cost, which is beneficial to citizens. However, he pointed out that the app is running slow and that many users are facing difficulties. He suggested that once users submit their details, they should not be required to re-enter the same information repeatedly. He also urged the government to make the app more accessible and user-friendly for people in rural areas.

Responding to these concerns, Minister Lokesh clarified that no personal data is stored on the Manamitra platform. He explained that WhatsApp acts only as a digital highway, while the data is securely stored within the respective government departments. Because of this structure, users may need to enter details each time. He said that so far, the government has only digitized processes across departments, but now there is a need for complete process re-engineering to simplify service delivery.

Lokesh said the idea of providing essential citizen services and certificates at the click of a button came to him during his Yuvagalam padayatra. Today, many services are reaching people at their doorstep through mobile phones, and the government aims to ensure that all key public services are available through a single phone number-based WhatsApp system. He stated that Andhra Pradesh is the only state in India offering large-scale WhatsApp governance services through a single number.

The minister acknowledged complaints about service speed, delayed receipts, and QR code-related issues. He invited MLAs to provide structured feedback to improve the system. He announced that a 90-day action plan will be implemented to address technical challenges and upgrade the platform before launching Manamitra 2.0. He also stressed the need for a door-to-door awareness campaign to ensure that citizens, especially in rural areas, fully benefit from the upgraded digital governance services.

With AI integration, improved speed, and streamlined processes, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to position Manamitra as a leading digital public service platform in India.
