The Maldives government has taken a key decision in the wake of the second phase of the corona. It has imposed a temporary ban on tourists from South Asian countries, including India. The ban will take be implemented from Thursday, May 13. To this end, the Maldives Immigration Department has released a statement on Twitter.
“We are suspending the entry of the tourists from South Asian countries into the Maldives. These rules will apply to all types of visa holders. The ban will be in effect from May 13. The rules also apply to tourists from other countries who have traveled to South Asia over the past 14 days,” the Maldives government tweeted. The High Commission of India responded to the ban. The embassy said the decision by the Maldives was likely to have an impact on air traffic between the two countries, so arrangements should be made for the repatriation of Indians to India.
