The bidding for the new teams in the Indian Premier League has now ended with Lucknow and Ahmedabad becoming the two new franchises to join the league from next season onwards.
While the Sanjiv Goenka-led RPSG group has won the bid for Lucknow at approx Rs 7000 crore, private equity firm CVC Capitals a.k.a Irelia wins Ahmedabad at approx Rs 5200 crore.
The bidding took place at the Taj Hotel in Dubai on Monday. It is worthy to mention that RP Sanjiv Goenka Group had previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiants team.
By the end of the day, the mega tournament will have two new teams, expanding the league from 8 to ten. There have been fourteen seasons in the IPL tournament. It is expected that next season will be more entertaining with the presence of new teams.
