Tamil star Vijay Antony‘s latest Tamil film, Romeo is dubbed and released in Telugu as Love Guru. The makers promoted the film is a family entertainer. Let us see what it has to offer.
Story:
35-year-old eligible bachelor Aravind(Vijay Antony) wants to have a love marriage in his life and this is when he meets Leela (Mirnalini Ravi). The pair develop feelings for each other very quickly and they get married. But to Aravind’s shock, he realizes that there is a tricky tale behind Leela marrying him so quickly. What is the story? How does it affect his life?
How did the actors perform?
Vijay Antony looks fine in the role of an aging bachelor and he does justice to what is expected of him. He has the right looks for this role. Mirnalini Ravi is apt for her witty role and she too has performed well. The rest of the cast is alright.
What about the technical departments?
The director Vinayak Vaithianathan picks a routine subject that we have seen in the past and tries to give it his own spin. The entire story revolves around the mystery behind the female lead character and why she marries the protagonist so quickly. This track packs some interest and it has a decent Telugu nativity as well.
But the problem is that the film gets tiring after a point as the intrigue over the back story of the heroine dilutes. The ending portion needed more fresh writing. The film could have done with a fair bit of trimming. But as a whole it lives up to the family entertainer tag.
What’s Hot?
A few fun scenes
Sister sentiment
What’s Not?
Stretched out scenes
Monotonous narrative after a point
Verdict: Love Guru has a decent premise and the light hearted mystery factor works out to an extent but the writing turns repetitive after a point. But as a whole, the film could make for a one time watch with the family.
