While the election code is in effect, the police force will act under the supervision of the Election Commission and they are mandated to regularly stop vehicles and carry out searches to see if they are carrying any cash, gold, or valuables beyond permissible limits.
But in the case of Nara Lokesh, he is for some reason coming under the police radar ever too often. Since the election code came into effect 10 days ago, Lokesh’s convoy was not halted once or twice, but it was halted and checked on three different occasions, the latest being while he was in Tadepalli.
All of these are routine stops and Lokesh’s convoy was cleared to pass through as no suspicious or barred items or cash were found in his vehicle so there is nothing to worry about.
CM Jagan Mohan Reddy himself is going on a bus tour and he could be closely followed by car rallies by YSR Congress leaders. It remains to be seen if the strict enforcement of the election code that was seen in Lokesh’s case will be implemented in the case of YSR Congress leaders as well.
