Seoul (South Korea): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh met APACT CEO Seong Dong Lee in Seoul to discuss expanding cooperation in the semiconductor and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) sector. The meeting focused on strengthening investments, skill development, and building a long-term semiconductor ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.
During the discussions, Lokesh thanked APACT for partnering with ASIP Technologies to establish an APACT facility in Andhra Pradesh and expressed confidence in a long-term partnership with the company. He urged APACT to encourage other leading OSAT companies, including Hana Micron, which is exploring investment opportunities in India, to consider Andhra Pradesh as their preferred destination.
The minister also proposed a partnership between APACT and the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to train young professionals in OSAT semiconductor operations. He said the state government is committed to providing full support for APACT’s expansion plans in India and is focused on developing a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of the semiconductor industry.
Responding to the proposals, APACT CEO Seong Dong Lee said the ASIP Technologies joint venture, originally announced for Hyderabad in February 2024, received approval under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) on August 12, 2025, for its Visakhapatnam facility. He said the upcoming unit, with an investment of ₹468 crore (approximately US$56 million), is designed to manufacture 96 million semiconductor devices annually, and construction is expected to begin soon.
Lee described the ASIP–APACT Visakhapatnam OSAT joint venture as a landmark achievement for Andhra Pradesh’s semiconductor sector. He added that the company would positively consider the proposals presented by the Andhra Pradesh government while exploring future opportunities for collaboration in the state.
