Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Soft-EPI Co., Ltd. CEO Sung Min Hwang and Senior Managing Director In-sung Cho during his visit to Seoul, South Korea. The meeting focused on attracting advanced electronics manufacturing investments to Andhra Pradesh and strengthening collaboration in the semiconductor and display technology sectors.
During the discussions, Lokesh invited Soft-EPI to partner with Indian companies and establish a Micro LED display material hub in Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted the state’s growing focus on high-tech manufacturing and said the proposed facility could support display manufacturers while helping build a strong ecosystem for next-generation display technologies.
The minister also proposed setting up an Advanced Epitaxy Centre in collaboration with IIT Tirupati. In addition, he requested the company to work with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a Soft-EPI Academy that would train around 500 technicians every year in advanced technologies such as GaN epitaxy, MOCVD, and Micro LED manufacturing.
Lokesh said developing skilled manpower alongside manufacturing infrastructure would help Andhra Pradesh emerge as a major destination for electronics and semiconductor investments in India.
Responding to the proposal, Soft-EPI CEO Sung Min Hwang said the South Korean company manufactures GaN epiwafers and Micro LED products and exports them to global markets. He noted that the company currently does not have manufacturing or operational facilities in India but assured that it would carefully evaluate the investment proposals presented by the Andhra Pradesh government.
The meeting is part of the Andhra Pradesh government’s ongoing efforts to attract global technology companies and position the state as a leading hub for advanced electronics, semiconductor, and display manufacturing.
