Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh has invited Carrier Global Corporation to establish a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, as part of the state’s push to position the city as a major technology and industrial hub. The proposal was made during his meeting with Carrier India Managing Director Sundar Narayanan in the city.
Highlighting Vizag’s rapid growth in IT, logistics, and industrial sectors, Lokesh emphasized the need for advanced infrastructure to meet rising demand in AI-driven solutions. He urged the company to consider setting up a manufacturing unit focused on data center cooling systems and predictive HVAC technologies, which are becoming critical for next-generation digital infrastructure.
The minister also proposed the development of a large-scale manufacturing facility to establish Vizag as a global refrigeration and cold-chain export hub. Such an initiative, he noted, would significantly boost exports and strengthen the region’s industrial ecosystem.
Carrier Global Corporation is a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, offering HVAC, refrigeration, and building automation systems worldwide. With a market capitalization of over $52 billion as of April 2026, the company continues to expand its global footprint in sustainable and smart infrastructure solutions.
Lokesh’s invitation aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s broader strategy to attract global investments and accelerate Vizag’s transformation into a future-ready innovation and manufacturing center.
