Illegal trading has become a side business for some of the ruling party leaders in Andhra Pradesh. Mainly liquor trading has been rampant in the coastal areas of AP and it is known that already the BJP Parliamentary candidate for Machilipatnam was caught red-handed. Now, it is the turn of the YSRCP leader.
Bottles of liquor were found moving in the car that belongs to Chukka Venkata Naga Varalakshmi of Jaggayyapeta who has been appointed as a member of the governing body of Indrakeeladri Durgamma Gudi. She was also provided a vehicle on behalf of the temple and the liquor bottles are found in the same car and it was written in the front of the vehicle that this vehicle belongs to the governing council of the Temple.
Previously, the Police did not check the cars thoroughly that belong to the Temple authorities and the YSRCP leaders used to get away mostly. However, the Police got a suspicion. After the car came from Telangana, they checked the car parked in an apartment in Sitarampuram. Large bottles of liquor were found in it.
SEB officials who registered the case arrested the driver. It is being said that the husband of a member of the Durgagudi governing body will be taken into custody soon. Venkata Naga Varalakshmi is said to be the wife of the suspect. Many people say that the temple’s sacredness and reputation took a huge scar with these kinds of activities by the people in power.
