It is known that the schedule of the Indian Premier League 2022 has been announced by BCCI. The 15th edition of IPL commences on March 26, and it will be Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders locking horns in the opening game at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the new season, here is an interesting news that Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga has been appointed as Rajasthan Royals fast bowling for the upcoming season. The 38-year-old cricketer is the all-time leading wicket-taker in the richest tournament with 170 wickets in 122 matches.
In an outstanding career that spanned over 17 years, Malinga played 340 matches across formats and picked up 546 wickets.
Meanwhile, this year’s IPL will see two new teams Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans joining the incumbent teams Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. A total of 74 matches will take place in IPL 2022, comprising the playoffs and the final.
