We know that incessant rain inundated Tirumala, and the low-lying areas were submerged in rainwater. Devotees have faced troubles due to the massive rains, while temple staff is taking many action in this regard.
The heavy rain had resulted in boulders rolling down on ghat roads. All vehicles on the up road were stopped, given the damage to the roads. Landslides occurred at four different locations on the second ghat road leading to Tirumala from Tirupati near Bashyakarula Sannidhi.
Vehicular movement along the Tirupati-Tirumala ghat road has stopped following a landslide that occurred on the second ghat road of Tirumala on Wednesday morning.
This is the second time in a month that ghat road observed landslides. Following heavy rains, the officials closed the ghat roads on November 11 and were resumed only on November 20. The heavy rains had also damaged both footpaths (Alipiri and Srivari Mettu), making the officials to close them.
According to the TTD chairman, TTD suffered damages of about Rs 4 crore. Meanwhile, the TTD is making alternative arrangements to remove the slides and clear the road for vehicles. “Due to incessant rains last month, soil loosened at various points on the second ghat road. There was no immediate threat, but we have taken up repair works on the second ghat,” a senior official said.
