Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad, who was sentenced in four cases related to the fodder scam, was granted bail on Saturday by the Jharkhand High Court.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh granted bail to Lalu in the Dumka treasury case and directed him neither to leave the country without authorisation nor change his details during the bail period.
Lalu has already obtained bail in the other three cases, which are related to the scam. With this one, the 73-year-old leader likely to walk out of prison.
For the unversed, the trial court had sentenced seven years’ imprisonment for Lalu Prasad. As per his lawyer, the veteran leader had already served 3.5 years in jail.
Meanwhile, Lalu has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi. He was moved here from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi on January 23 after his health worsened. He has been in hospital since August 2018.
