Kings XI Punjab is continuing its fabulous form in this year of IPL. They now registered their fifth straight win in the tournament. The latest win came against Kolkata Knight Riders. Punjab chased the target of 150 with ease and won against KKR by 8 wickets. It is an all-round effort from the team which resulted in this win. On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami, Chris Jordan and Ravi Bishnoi did well on the bowling front. Chris Gayle and Mandeep Singh did the job on the batting front. For KKR, only Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan worked hard in giving a defendable total.
Kings XI Punjab’s skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first. He got a good start as opener Nitish Rana got out in the first over and Dinesh Karthik and Rahul Tripathi went back to the pavilion in the second over. When they were 10/3, Eoin Morgan and Shubman Gill played an attacking game and brought back KKR into the league. They made a partnership of 81 runs for the fourth wicket. When Morgan and Gill fell, no other batsman tried to do well for KKR. Thus, they ended their innings at 149/9.
Punjab got a good start from their openers, KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh. They made a partnership of 47 runs for the opening wicket. Then, Rahul got dismissed in the bowling of Varun Chakravarthy. Then, Gayle and Mandeep Singh made sure not to lose any wicket and almost completed the formalities for Punjab. In the process, they have also completed their respective half-centuries. When they needed three runs to win, Gayle fell in the bowling of Lockie Ferguson. With their contribution, Punjab scored 150/2 in 18.2 overs.
