Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Working President K T Ramarao, wondered why the Election Commission was reluctant to quiz the state BJP leadership for withdrawing of Rs 8 cr from a bank during elections.
He also expressed surprise at the way even Income Tax department had given the BJP a ‘clean chit.’ He made this remarks while interacting with a group of media persons at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters.
It may be recalled that a BJP functionary had drawn Rs 8 cr from a local bank and was caught by the police, while transporting it. On being caught, the BJP activist claimed that the money was withdrawn from a legitimate cheque. Yet, withdrawing such huge amount, that too during campaigning period for polls, had raised many eye brows as well protests from the Opposition.
However, KTR too did not elaborate or why the police let the party activist off-the-hook, who was ferrying the money after withdrawing from a local bank. Instead, he turned his ire against AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who allegedly called him and his father, K Chandrasekhara Rao, as ‘pet dogs’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking seriously objection to such unwarranted comments, he said, even he can turn to him and ask “were you a pet dog of the same person called Modi, while being in NDA? Was it not true that your party colleagues were also been cabinet colleagues of Modi?’
He also took pot shots at Congress by asking ‘how Rahul Gandhi’s decision to move down to south and contest from Wayanawad in Kerala will help that party anyway?’ He reiterated that neither the Congress nor BJP will get requisite number to stake claim to form the government and the regional parties have a major role to install next government. He expressed confidence of his party bagging all the 16 LS seats in the state and YSRCP not less than 20 of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra to strengthen KCR’s hands to form a non-BJP and non-Congress government at the Centre.
When his attention was drawn to the YSRCP chief categorical admission that his party would not mind supporting any party government at the Centre, which assures his and people his state of Special Category Status,” the TRS Working President countered, he did not take either of the parties – BJP or Cong – clearly indicates that he is with KCR.
