Telangana Minister and senior Congress leader Konda Surekha has once again issued a public apology to actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and his family. Recently in 2024, while criticising BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao, Surekha made controversial remarks that indirectly involved the Akkineni family. The comments triggered strong reactions from fans and the film industry, with Nagarjuna reportedly taking the matter seriously.
Though Konda Surekha had already issued a Oral public apology earlier, many are now questioning why she repeated it again after several months. Sources suggest that her renewed apology may be linked to the ongoing legal case. Reportedly, Nagarjuna filed a ₹100 crore defamation suit against her following her earlier comments, while K.T. Rama Rao also took legal action. As the court proceedings seem to be tightening around her, Surekha is said to have made this second apology as a precautionary move to ease the legal pressure.
Adding to the controversy, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s followers are expressing anger that Surekha has not extended her apology to Samantha, who was also indirectly affected by those earlier remarks. Many feel that public figures and politicians should act responsibly and avoid making personal or derogatory comments, as such behaviour damages public discourse and sets a poor example.
In her latest clarification on social media platform X, Konda Surekha wrote:
> “I would wish to clarify that the statement I had made in relation to @iamnagarjuna Garu was not intended to hurt Nagarjuna Garu or his family members. I had no intention of hurting or defaming Akkineni Nagarjuna Garu or his family members. I regret any unintended impression given in my statements in relation to them and withdraw the same.”
With this renewed apology, Konda Surekha appears to be attempting to settle the matter legally and publicly, though the controversy continues to stir debate among political and film circles.
