It is already on that the captain of the Indian test team Rohit Sharma had retired from this format a couple of days ago. This came shortly before the start of the England series, and the team selection was happening quickly.
On that note, the latest developments are suggesting that another senior player Virat Kohli had also intimated the BCCI about his intention to quit this format.
Apparently, Kohli expressed it to the BCCI about his intention to retire from the test format. However, the BCCI was not very supportive of this decision, and they reportedly asked Kohli to reconsider his choice and kept his proposal on hold.
The BCCI is reportedly wanting to have Kohli in the final squad for the England series. The intention of the board is to continue Kohli in the side for the time being considering that another senior player Rohit Sharma has retired already.
But nevertheless, Kohli himself saying he wants to retire, is a clear indication that he could be out of this format very soon.
