KGF Chapter 2, the much-awaited high voltage action drama in the combination of star actor-director duo Yash and Prashant Neel has hit the screens today. Let’s check how is it.
Story:
KGF Chapter 2 kick-starts where the first part ended. After finishing off Garuda, Rocky (Yash) takeovers the goldmine empire KGF and starts expanding his business network. In his journey, Rocky faces a tough challenge in the form of Adheera (Sanjay Dutt). How will Rocky face-off with Adheera? What is the role of a powerful politician aka the Indian Prime Minister Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon) in the entire setup, forms the crucial crux of the film.
On-screen performances:
Yash is just outstanding with his terrific performance and unleashes his amazing screen presence throughout the movie. Be it his attitude or stylish mannerisms, the actor creates a mark with his effortless acting. The way he carried the suits is nice and even looks fit on the screen.
Raveena Tandon gets a meaty role as a powerful politician and the talented actress did her job quite convincingly.
Sanjay Dutt’s get up as Adheera is good but his character lacks a solid impact. Though the confrontation episodes between Rocky and Adheera are good, Sanjay Dutt’s age factor comes as a minus for the role.
Heroine Srinidhi Shetty got a better screen space in KGF2 compared to the first part and the young actress is okay with her performance. Other actors such as Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash, Saran Shakti are impressive in their extended cameo roles.
Off-screen talents:
Music by Ravi Basrur is a backbone for the film as the re-recording breathes life to the film and all the elevation scenes on Rocky. Audio-wise, the film has all situational songs and is passable on screen.
Bhuvan Gowda’s cinematography is top-notch as he presented the film superbly with his framing. The lighting setup created to showcase the dark shades in the movie is impressive. The editing by Ujwal Kulkarni is good as the film has hardly any unwanted scenes.
Production values for this high-budget actioner are rich. Production design and the entire premises created to showcase Rocky’s KGF is good.
Coming to the direction part, Prashanth Neel has done a fabulous job in impressively executing the film. Though the second half of the film has a couple of dull moments in the halfway, the director rectified and balanced the narrative during the pre-climax and climax portions.
Positive Points:
- Yash
- Heroism elevation episodes
- BGM
- Good production values
Negative Points:
- No strong antagonist
- Illogical scenes
- Some dull elevations
- A few dull moments in the latter half
- Typical screenplay
Verdict:
In an overview, KGF Chapter 2 is a treat for the masses, who don’t care about much logic. Though the story is not as strong as the first part, the director covered it with good action sequences and next level hero elevations. It is a watchable film if you are interested in mass movies.
