The way Telangana Chief Minister KCR was handling the situation of Coronavirus in the state at the very beginning was an inspirational one to everyone in the country. He was conducting regular press conferences, and was answering the doubts of all the media personnel. KCR had even promised to make a hospital ready, to especially treat Coronavirus victims, and said that it would contain 1,500 beds. He also said that this facility would be called TIMS (Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences).
Nearly 3 months later, neither the CM, nor the government of Telangana has taken the name of TIMS, and the government is shying away from making any statements on the ongoing situation of Coronavirus in the state. Even when someone makes a statement, like the one that Health Minister Etala Rajendar Reddy makes every now and then, they are full of deceit and false promises.
It has been a really long time since KCR has conducted any meetings with his cabinet to discuss how Coronavirus is to be handled in the state. And now, the CM is busy making plans on how to construct the brand new Secretariat, in place of the old one.
The priorities of the Chief Minister were pretty evident when he chose to demolish the secretariat, and was making plans for the new one. According to the latest reports, the Chief Minister was busy in going through the plans of the new secretariat, and personally made a few suggestions and changes to the new plan, so that it would better suit all the ministers working in the buildings.
What anyone now fails to understand is the dire necessity with which KCR is focusing on getting the new secretariat built. Why is constructing a new secretariat more important than saving the lives of thousands of people who are dying from Coronavirus?
It is high time the government and the CM become responsible for their decisions, and realise that they are answerable to the people who voted them to power.
