Unperturbed with his political opponents criticism, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao seems determined to accomplish his ‘mission national alliance’ that he had been talking since quite some time. Installation of a non-BJP and non-Congress government at the Centre after polls.
Sources close to him claim that he looks more than confident to convince all those powerful regional parties which are set to perform well in their respective states. He wanted to begin the ‘dialogue’ of forming a ‘national alliance’ at the Centre with ‘Common Minimum Program’ (CMP). He is expected to even take part in election rallies of Mamata in West Bengal, Akhilesh-Mayawati combine in UP, and Naveen Patnaik’s BJD in Odisha, after April 11, when first-phase polls will be over.
He apparently confidant to win all the 16 seats, besides the lone MIM in the state and expected YSRCP winning of around 20 out of 25 LS seats in neighboring AP. With 37-38 LS seats from both Telugu states, he set to begin his journey to form the ‘National Alliance” at the centre to bargain with other regional parties.
He wish to take the initiative to give final shape to an alternative government at the Centre, keeping both the national parties – Congress and BJP – at distance. He is optimistic that neither Narendra Modi-led BJP nor Rahul Gandhi headed Congress get requisite numbers to stake claim to form the next government.
Where from his confidence emerges, none are unable to understand. The pollsters are projecting that BJP is set to get more than 200 Lok Sabha seats on its own, while its NDA allies may add up the rest to reach closer to the half-way mark (272) or may be in a worst situation, fall short of just 10-15 seats.
On the other hand, they also say that the Congress too can improve upon its worst ever show of 2014 when it could just win 44, and got suffered reversals at many states under Modi-wave, especially in Hindi heartland, this time may get closer to 80-90 LS seats on its own. And with their UPA allies tally easily cross over 150-mark.
Meanwhile, Pollsters are giving just 130-140 to other regional parties, which are neither in the NDA nor UPA alliance, like Mamata’s TMC, Mayawati’s BSP or Akhilesh’s SP, Naveen Patnaik’s BJP, Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSRCP and KCR’s TRS, besides few others.
Even, if all these parties tally put together may not cross 150. Unless KCR try and rope in other regional satraps, who are already with either of NDA or UPA to desert their camps respective camps and join the new “National Party or Alliance” that he had been proposing to cobble.
That means, parties like Thackeray’s Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) or AIADMK from NDA and Lalu’s RJD, Stalin’s DMK, and Kumara Swamy’s JD (S) have to desert their respective BJP and Cong led alliance groups, to join proposed KCR’s ‘national alliance’?
Can a such a thing possible post-poll however efforts KCR may put in? If it happens, then it would be a ‘miracle’ that might have happened in the past under the leadership of late Jaiprakash Narain, when he managed to cobble Janata Party, bringing in even Leftists and Rightists parties together, soon after dark days of emergency imposed in post independent India by late Mrs Indira Gandhi of Congress.
But, no such situation prevails in the country, though the Congress-led Opposition manage to create anti-Modi euphoria influencing even some intellectual groups of Modi-led NDA government destroying all Constitutional institutions ever since it took over the reins in 2014 and also promoting divisive politics with its Hindutva agenda.
One has to wait till May 23, when results will be out after successful conduct of polls in five-phase to elect 542 Lok Sabha members, what’s in store for independent India which is set to celebrate its platinum jubilee soon.
