Karnataka water resources minister Ramesh Jarkiholi on Wednesday resigned from his post on moral grounds after a CD, revealing him seeking sexual favours from a woman appeared on Tuesday.
“The allegations are far from the truth. There should be an immediate investigation into this. I believe that I am innocent but I resign on moral grounds. Kindly accept my resignation,” he wrote in a letter.
His resignation letter has been approved by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and sent to the Governor for approval.
As per reports, Minister Jarkiholi exploited poor women, who had approached the minister for making a short film. He had used her sexually by guaranteeing a job in the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.
Dinesh Kalahalli, a social activist, brought this issue to light. He issued a video, screenshots and a telephonic conversation, purportedly between the minister and the woman. He filed a complained against the minister in the Cubbon Park police station.
