Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has got partial relief in the defamation case filed by writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar. The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri today granted bail to the actress upon furnishing a surety of Rs 15000 and a cash surety of Rs 20000.
The actress was asked to appear in court on March 1 regarding this case. As she failed to appear before the court, a bailable warrant had been issued against her. However, Ranaut had asked for cancellation of the bailable warrant and also appealed for bail which was granted by the court.
In November 2020, Javed Akhtar had filed a complaint case against Kangana claiming the actress had made derogatory remarks against him in TV interviews.
He mentioned in his complaint that Ranaut had unnecessarily dragged his name while pointing out a coterie in Bollywood, following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
