The sci-fi drama “Kalki 2898 AD,” starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan and Deepika Padukone has achieved a remarkable feat by entering the prestigious Rs 1,000 crore club. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, reached this milestone in just 15 days after its release on June 27.
With this achievement, “Kalki 2898 AD” has now secured the seventh position in the list of all-time highest grossing Indian movies. The film is expected to surpass the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathan” (Rs 1,050 Cr) and “Jawan” (Rs 1,150 Cr) in the coming days, potentially placing it among the top five highest grossers.
In the North American market, “Kalki 2898 AD” has grossed close to $17 million, making it the second highest grossing South Indian movie in the region after “Baahubali The Conclusion” ($22M). The film is poised to overtake the lifetime collection of “Pathaan” ($17.5M) to become the second highest grossing Indian movie in North America.
In addition to the lead cast, the film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Sobhana, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, and several other popular Indian stars. The film is produced by veteran filmmaker Ashwini Dutt, with music composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
