Andhra Pradesh is taking a major step toward becoming a global clean energy hub with the launch of a massive green ammonia export project at Kakinada. Presenting the vision, IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh said the state is moving from being an energy importer to a clean energy exporter, marking a new chapter in India’s energy journey. The project is part of Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to place the state at the forefront of the global green energy transition.
The project, led by AM Green Group, involves an investment of nearly $10 billion across the entire clean energy value chain. With a planned capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum, the green ammonia facility is expected to play a key role in exporting clean energy to international markets. Officials say this initiative will help India emerge as a global clean energy supplier, similar to how Saudi Arabia dominates the oil sector today.
Kakinada has been chosen as the project location due to its strategic coastal advantage, port connectivity, and strong industrial infrastructure. The project is expected to generate large-scale employment, attract allied industries, and boost Andhra Pradesh’s reputation as a clean energy destination. It will also support India’s long-term climate goals by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting green hydrogen-based solutions.
With this landmark investment, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a leader in India’s renewable energy revolution. The project not only strengthens the state’s economy but also places India firmly on the global map as a future exporter of clean and sustainable energy.
