The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the Indian squad for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and the five-match Test series against England.
Here is the squad:
India’s squad: Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (WK), R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav.
KL Rahul & Wriddhiman Saha (WK) subject to fitness clearance.
Standby players: Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla.
However, the selectors have ignored Hardik Pandya and Prithvi Shaw. The 27-year-old all-rounder has not been included in the team as he is not fit to ball. It’s been 3 years since Pandya last played a test.
The final of the World Test championship will be held from June 18 to 22 with a reserve day.
