Peeved by denial of party ticket, former MP A P Jithender Reddy is now set to return to the BJP camp. He is apparently upset with the TRS leadership denying him ticket from Mahabubnagar LS constituency, accusing him responsible for the party nominee’s debacle in assembly polls.
If one has to believe sources close to the state BJP leadership, he is set to announce his decision, at the proposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting schedule this week-end, where he will formally join the party.
According to TRS sources, the party is quite unhappy with Jithender Reddy, who is working against the party interests, for having his close links with central BJP leadership. They also partly blame him for the party’s disappointing response in his home turn, Mahabubngar, where TRS faced rough weather.
Insiders in TRS openly cited precisely that’s the reason why Jithender Reddy was denied LS seat this time around.
Interestingly, reasons best known to Jithender Reddy, he did not make up his mind till last moment which cost him an ‘lost opportunity as in a surprise move the senior Congress leader DK Aruna chose to join the BJP bandwagon to snatch Mahabubnagar LS ticket.
Realising his continuance in TRS no way help change his future political prospects, he apparently got some assurance from the BJP leadership, which made him rejoin the party.
BJP central and state leadership expects, their candidate Aruna’s poll prospects will brighten as Jithender Reddy enjoys considerable influence in the parliament constituency, which he won in 2014, much against the sentiment wave in favor of TRS. He later crossed over to TRS.
Highly places sources in the BJP confirm that Jithender Reddy may be rewarded with state president post on completion of the term of present incumbent, Laxman. The BJP is determined to strengthen the party in new state with a grandeur plan to emerge as an alternative to TRS as the Congress and TDP, have already decimated their ground in the state under the ‘Mission 2023.’
