Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has faced a severe backlash after his alleged vulgar comments against Jaya Prada in Uttar Pradesh.
Azam Khan is contesting in the upcoming elections from Rampur, while Jaya Prada has been fielded from BJP in the same constituency. As a part of the political criticisms, Azam Khan criticized her, saying, “UP people took 17 years to understand her reality, whereas I could realize it in 17 days, that she wears a Khaki underwear (implying RSS).”
These comments have gone extremely viral on the social media and Azam Khan had to face a severe backlash from all the corners for making such disgusting comments against a woman. Currently, a case has been filed against him and the National Commission for Women has asked for an explanation.
Meanwhile, responding to it, Azam Khan today said that his comments were not against Jaya Prada as he never took her name. He further challenged that he would stay away from the elections, if proven guilty. He claimed that his comments were aimed against a man, who said that he brought 150 rifles to shoot him (Azam Khan). “Now, it has been revealed that he has an RSS pant on his body. Shorts are worn by men,” Khan said.
Even the Congress Party came in support of Jaya Prada in the issue and demanded for a strict action against Azam Khan.
Responding to the issue, Congress party leader, Abhishek Manu Singhvi tweeted, “Statement of #AzamKhan on #Jayaprada represents ugly and cheap standards. Such statements are derogatory for the health of a vibrant democracy. Hope that the ECI and @yadavakhilesh would take cognizance of the statement and ensure action against it.”
Uttar Pradesh is voting for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in all seven phases. For the Rampur constituency the polling will be conducted on April 23rd.
