Janasena Party is forced to contest in ZPTC and MPTC elections with two different symbols.
The Panchayat elections in Telangana will be held in three phases on 6th, 10th, and 14th of May. While the posts of MPTCs are 5817, ZPTCs amounted to 583.
Glass Tumbler as Janasena’s party symbol has become quite famous during the political campaigning of assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. The Janasena activists have succeeded in promoting the symbol as an identity of the common man, by drinking tea in the glass tumbler.
While the symbol was so deeply connected, at this point of time, the election commission has refused to use it for the MPTC elections, as the glass tumbler is not in the list of EC symbols. So the EC has allotted the cricket bat symbol to Janasena for MPTC elections. However, the party will continue to contest with the Glass Tumbler symbol itself in the ZPTC elections.
Canvassing with two different symbols would be tough for Janasena to reach out to the public as it is expected to create a confusion among the voters, while voting. Adding to it, Janasena being a new party, it is yet to make a promising identity in Telangana. But now coming up with two different symbols in Panchayat elections is expected to take a beat, confusing even the dedicated voters of the party.
