The Telugu Desam Party and the Jana Sena were a team until the 2019 elections, with the parties supporting each other whenever necessary. In the race to the 2019 elections, the Jana Sena broke its alliance with the TDP, citing that the TDP failed to meet its expectations, and deliver on its promises.
The Jana Sena was affiliated with the BJP until recently, and while this pact continues, the Jana Sena is going ahead with its own agenda for now. According to the latest reports, the Jana Sena and TDP could come together once again, for the 2024 elections. The TDP has reportedly set a target for itself, to win at least 100 MLA seats. It wants to win 80% of the seats in central Andhra, where it is relatively stronger, 50% seats in North Andhra and 30% in Rayalaseema. It has prepared a list of A-grade seats, where it can win quite easily, and B grade seats, which could be won if serious efforts are made. To win 100 seats, the party feels that it needs the support of Jana Sena, which is why it is said to have begun serious efforts at entering into an alliance with Jana Sena.
Given that the Jana Sena wasn’t happy with the ways of the TDP in the past, negotiations are said to be going on at present, between the two parties, where the Jana Sena is said to be trying its best to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself. It is now to be seen what will happen in the end.
