Kannada Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar‘s last film, James had a simultaneous release in Telugu with the same title. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Santhosh Kumar( Puneeth Rajkumar), a security agent in a private agency joins as a bodyguard for a rich industrialist named Vijay Gaykwad( Srikanth). But as a twist in the tale, Santhosh takes on Vijay Gaykwad during the interval block. Being a loyal security guard, why Santhosh takes on Gaykwad? What is the actually identity of Santhosh? To know that, you have to watch the film in the theatres near you.
On-screen performances:
Puneeth Rajkumar is super fit and did his part quite convincingly. While his acting in emotional scenes is decent, the star did action sequences superbly.
Srikanth is decent in his role as an industrial person. Sharath Kumar as the main antagonist is okay. Heroine Priya Anand is cute on screen but her character is not designed in a proper manner.
Other artists who played supporting roles did their part nicely.
Off-screen talents:
Music by Charan Raj is okay. While all the songs are passable on screen, the background score for action blocks in impressive.
The cinematography work by Swamy J Gowda is good as he showcased the entire film on a rich note. Editing by Deepu S Kumar is adequate.
Coming to Chethan Kumar, the writer and director for James, he came up with a routine template storyline. Though he designed the action part nicely, Chethan Kumar’s narrative lacks engaging moments. Apart from focusing on presenting the film on a rich note, if Chethan would have worked more on writing a racy screenplay, the result would have been much better.
Positive Points:
- Puneeth Rajkumar
- Production values
Negative Points:
- screenplay
- Too much of action
Verdict:
In an overview, James is a regular action drama that has amazing screen presence of Puneeth Rajkumar and its a treat for his fans to watch him on screen for the one last time. But lack of story and predictable narration dilutes the audience mood.
Disclaimer: As the legendary actor Puneeth Rajkumar is not among us, we decided not to rate the film as a mark of respect and leave it for the fans to enjoy the last works of the generous actor.
