Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy very prestigiously launched the scheme where he announced that he would give away lands to poor people, by this year’s Ugadi. However, the scheme has been facing some or the other kinds of problems ever since the very beginning.
The government was supposed to give away 25 Lakh lands by Ugadi this year, on a very grand scale. The government also made sure that everything was ready for this right from the moment they assumed power, however, several unknown reasons have delayed the program time and again.
As a result of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the government postponed the giving away of lands from Ugadi to Ambedkar Jayanthi, and then once again to Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary on July 8th. Both of these dates haven’t worked out for the government, forcing them to once again push the date from July 8th (YSR’s Jayanthi), to August 15th.
There have been a lot of accusations on the government, with regards to the way they are getting hold of all of these lands to give away to poor people. YSRCP member and Narasapuram MP, Raghurama Krishnam Raju has himself spoken about this issue, which became quite the rage.
There have also been several rumors, accusing members of the governing party of financial discrepancies, with respect to the pricing of the lands, and the acquiring of them.
Also, several people have been saying that the government is unlawfully taking away their lands from them, to give them to the poor people. Looking at the way the government is being accused of several things, the government’s plan to give away lands to the poor may not materialize any time soon.
