The Central Government of India had announced a few days ago that those above the age of 18, falling into the back of 18-45, would be eligible to be vaccinated from May 1st. For that purpose, the center has also asked the eligible people to register themselves for vaccination, on the Cowin portal from April 28th.
However, the shortage of vaccines in the country is a point that needs to be noted. As a result, only those above 45 are being vaccinated still in the country. Responding to this matter, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that it may not be possible to vaccinate those between 18 and 45 until September.
Jagan also said that it would take at least four months for all those between 18 and 45 to be vaccinated in the state. He said that everyone has to be careful until at least February, which is when he expected to achieve 100% vaccination in the state.
On the other hand, the Central government has made it clear that states should not use the vaccines that the Center has given them, on those between 18 and 45 years of age, and that the states should strictly use these vaccines for those above 45 years of age. Vaccines bought by private institutions are to be used for those between 18 and 45 years.
