The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that the government is taking back the existing 3 capitals bill. He vowed to present a new bill, a more comprehensive one at it if needed in the future.
“I like Amaravati. In fact my house is here. But it takes Rs 6 lakh crores to develop even the basic infrastructure in Amaravati if it is to be made a comprehensive capital. This isn’t viable. So, Vizag is the better option now. With necessary financial allocations, Vizag can be developed into a world class capital,” Jagan said in the assembly today.
Jagan further added that the three capitals proposal is still very much in the foreground. He says certain changes will be made to the existing bill in order to avoid legal hurdles.
Jagan hinted that Vizag will indeed be developed as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh.
