Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy has several cases lodged against him in the CBI court. While all of them are still pending hearing in the court, the Chief Minister of AP has recently requested the CBI court to remove his name from the charge sheet regarding the Penna Cements case. Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy has also requested the CBI court to remove her name from that petition as well, earlier this month. The hearing regarding this will be held on the 22nd of this month.
Penna Cements case is about the undue allotment of land and limestone mines to Penna Cements company during the term of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Penna Cements was also given huge exemptions by the government back then, for raising a 5-star hotel in Banjara Hills. Following these allotments, Penna Prata Reddy invested Rs. 68 Crores in all the firms belonging to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. AP’s ministers during the term 2004 to 2009, including revenue minister, mines ministers, revenue secretary and industries secretary, are the co-accused in this case, along with Jagan.
