The Andhra Pradesh High Court has given a big shock to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government by suspending the state government’s GO regarding movie ticket prices.
Ahead of the big releases lining up in the next two months, the verdict of the High Court came as an immense relief for the filmmakers of Tollywood.
The latest update we hear is that the State government has decided to challenge High Court’s verdict. The YSRCP government had defended its move, saying that the distributors were charging excessive prices for high-budget releases.
The AP Government slashing the prices of movie tickets had scarred the film industry, and they approached the court arguing that the GO violated the earlier orders and that they had every right to fix ticket prices at the time of the release of new films. Ticket prices in the GO were fixed between Rs 5-250 based on the location and type of theatre.
Now that the GO was suspended, big-budget films like Pushpa, Shyam Singha Roy, RRR, Radhe Shyam and Bheemla Nayak will have a smooth run at the box office.
