Once again YSRCP government being led by Jagan Mohan Reddy has shown its muscle power on the opposition leaders. It is known that the six-decade-old wooden chariot or temple car of the deity, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Antarvedi in East Godavari district of the state, got burnt and reduced to ashes.
Later AP BJP president warned of an intense agitation over the Antarvedi chariot incident and now the AP police without any sign of agitation or ruckus have kept several BJP and right-wing leaders under house arrest. In a very bizarre fashion Section 30 was clamped in East Godavari district.
Many leaders began to question the YSRCP about their partiality towards Hinduism and the AP BJP president said the incident at Antarvedi is a reflection of the growing intolerance against temples and the Hindu faith. Since YSRCP grabbed power from CBN, there are many allegations that the AP CM and his governance are partial to one religion in the state and the BJP leaders allege that these house arrests have been a classic example which is meant to suppress the questioning voices of the leaders.
BJP former president Y Malakondayya, Kakinada city president Chitneedi Srinivas and 75 leaders have been kept under house arrest, and what Police said in reply when the were asked the reason was that is just a precautive measure as if the leaders are some criminals. Devotees and Hindu organizations smell a conspiracy and consider the incident as yet another assault on Hindu religion and faith ever since the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government came to power in the state.
