After formation of government in Andhra Pradesh, there is not even a single announcement about the Amaravati capital city construction from AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Unwilling to give any credit to the ex CM Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRCP Chief is unable to take any decision towards the capital city construction. But it seems, finally the young CM has got one such opportunity to shift the capital city from Amaravati to any other part of the state.
In TDP’s regime, the World Bank has committed to grant $300 million for Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project that seeks to develop the greenfield capital. But the World bank has now dropped the $700-million worth of project.
In TDP’s regime, a few of the farmers had written to the World Bank that the mega project would disturb the environment and also threaten the livelihood of thousands of people. The TDP government was still able to convince the bank to move on with it, but as the state government has been changed now, the World Bank is no more willing to move with the proposal.

As Jagan is anyway waiting for a right opportunity and a reason to stop the capital city construction, is now considering World Bank’s latest decision as one such opportunity. He will now be able to pick any other city, anticipating that he would get loans and also assistance from the Central government. On the other side, he can also blame Naidu’s government saying that he wasted so much of public money on it.
