The case of Jaahnavi Kandula, a Telugu-born girl who died in a roadkill incident that happened in Seattle, Washington after a police car hit her, took a bad turn after the King’s County said no criminal charges can be pressed on the concerned police officer Kevin Dave as there is no evidence of criminal negligence in the case.
However, the case has taken a twist now as the Indian Consulate General in Seattle has asked for a review on the same to the Seattle Attorney’s Office.
On the recently released investigation report of the King County Prosecution Attorney on the unfortunate death of Jaahnavi Kandula, Consulate has been in regular touch with the designated family representatives and will continue to extend all possible support in ensuring justice for Jaahnavi and her family.
We have also raised the matter strongly with local authorities, including Seattle Police for appropriate redress. The case has now been referred to Seattle City Attorney’s office for review.
We await completion of Seattle Police’s administrative investigation and will continue to monitor progress on the case, the communication from the Consulate general read.
