The Telugu Desam Party and Bharatiya Janata Party were allies during the 2014 elections. Things fell apart between the two parties eventually, with TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu choosing to go with the Congress party in the 2019 elections. During this time, he levelled several allegations and criticisms against PM Narendra Modi, which didn’t sit well with the BJP.
For several months now, the TDP has been trying to get back into the good books of the BJP leadership, and with Chandrababu being invited to several national level events by PM Modi, everyone thought that another TDP and BJP alliance was on the way. This alliance has now been completely ruled out by AP BJP President Somu Veerraju that the BJP is not interested in teaming up with the TDP at all.
Somu said that the only possible alliance that the BJP would have in AP would be with the Jana Sena Party. He clearly indicated that the BJP would much prefer going alone into the 2024 elections.
