The second wave has completely subsided in India yet, with states still recovering from the devastating blow that the second wave has left behind. States have slowly started to lift lockdowns, and people have started relaxing after a depressing period of time.
In the meantime, a new coronavirus variant is causing panic all over again in the country. The new variant, Delta Plus, is already circulating and threatening several countries. So far, nearly 40 cases have been reported across 8 states in India. Maharashtra, as always, is on high alert, after 22 cases were reported in Maharashtra alone. Six cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh, two in Kerala, one each in Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu.
The Central Government has already sent a warning to all state governments, and health experts are warning everyone, stating that this variant is very dangerous. It is now up to the state governments to be as careful as possible, and make sure that the new variant doesn’t spread in their states. Of course, nothing can be done where the state governments do not act on time. With the second wave only having started to subside, the third wave is causing a lot of panic and confusion.
