The Income Tax department has stated that noted Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has evaded Rs 20 crores in taxes.
The IT department states that Sonu Sood had launched a foundation last year and amassed Rs 18 crores in donations through the same. Out of which, only around Rs 2 crores were spent and the remaining amount is lying unused in the related bank account.
Also, Sonu Sood has apparently piled up another Rs 2.1 crores through foreign donors. Reportedly, Sonu Sood had amassed the amount through bogus and unsecured loans as well. This money was used to acquire properties and other investments. The total unaccounted money amounts to Rs 20 crores.
Sonu Sood is yet to react to the IT department’s statements.
