Cricket is a global sport and it can instantly change the lives of those involved with it. Zeroes become heroes in a short span of time while heroes can also become zeroes.
Here’s the story of one player who went from being tipped to be the next Sachin Tendulkar to remaining unsold in this year’s auction while at the age of 25.
The player in question is Prithvi Shaw who debuted for India at the age of 18. At that point, his immaculate timing and immense potential shown in the domestic arena earned him a lot of trust. He was tipped to be Indian cricket’s next Sachin Tendulkar.
However, shortly after her debut for India, Prithvi’s cricketing skills got exposed. His inability to sustain in swinging conditions and the repeated mistakes in shot selection led to his downfall.
After he got axed from the Indian side, he silently moved to Delhi in IPL and vowed to click here. But that wasn’t to be either. He was a big failure in the previous season. Adding to that, he lost his athlete physique and put on weight which deterred his image further.
Guess what, Prithvi Shaw had no takers in this year’s auction as he went unsold in both the rounds.
In such a short span, Prithvi went from being called the next Sachin Tendulkar to being without an IPL contract right at a young age of 25. He has virtually seen it all as it won’t be too long before he goes down as a wasted talent in the Indian cricketing ranks
