It is known that the auction for Indian Premier League 2022 is currently going on. In an unfortunate incident, auctioneer Hugh Edmeades fainted mid-event as he fell down from the stage. With this, the auction was halted midway and an early lunch was taken.
The incident happened when the franchises were bidding for Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanidu Hasaranga. As the auctioneer suddenly collapsed on stage, everyone around him were concerned before he was being attended to by a doctor at the venue in Bengaluru.
“A doctor has attended Edmeades. He is doing fine. His blood pressure dropped suddenly, and that was the reason for his sudden collapse. We will know more once he has a thorough check-up,” a BCCI source said.
“He is stable and we will give further updates later,” a BCCI spokesperson later said.
In his 36-year long career, Hugh Edmeades has conducted over 2500 auctions globally. He is a multinational fine art, classic car, and charity auctioneer and has sold more than 3 lakh lots for a sum above 2.7 billion pounds.
