It is known that the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be more entertaining, with two new teams added to the mega tournament. Ahead of the 2022 mega auction, the current teams have to announce the list of their retained players on November 30. While all the teams seem to finalise their players for retention, Punjab Kings (PBKS) is said to have decided not to retain any player from the existing team.
After a few reports suggested that KL Rahul doesn’t want to continue with Punjab Kings, it has now been learned that the franchise is likely to go into the auction with a full purse balance of INR 90 crore.
There are rumours that Rahul will be the captain of the new franchise, Lucknow. With KL leaving the team, Punjab will have to spend Rs 16 crore for the first retention under BCCI rules if they want to keep another opener, Mayank Agarwal. In fact, Mayank was bought by the franchise for just over a crore rupees. In such a case, it is natural for the owner to feel that it would be a futile endeavour to spend a hefty sum for him.
It seems that the Punjab franchise management has decided to change the entire team in this context. On the other hand, it is heard that Lucknow is ready to pay any amount for KL Rahul.
