In an unexpected development, all rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who had taken the captaincy responsibility of Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2022, has now handed back the captaincy reigns to former skipper MS Dhoni as he wants to focus on his game.
An official statement from the franchise states that Jadeja requested Dhoni to take over again while the former could concentrate on his game.
“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK,” CSK said in a statement.
“MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the franchise added.
Dhoni had led the side since 2008 and he had given Jadeja the captaincy ahead of the ongoing season.
However, CSK got a poor start in the present season as they won only two matches in eight games they played. The MS Dhoni led team will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
