As the time for the IPL Mega auction approaches, it has become interesting to see how much any player will trade for. In addition to the existing 8 franchises, two more franchises – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – have been added to the Mega tournament. With this, many are waiting to see who will become the captains of the two new franchises.
Before the Mega auction, the two new franchises are likely to pick up only three from the non-retainer players’ list. The process has to be completed by December 25 and the details have to be submitted to the IPL board.
According to reports, KL Rahul, who left the Punjab Kings, has a chance to become the captain of the Lucknow franchise. KL Rahul, Rashid Khan and Ishan Kishan will be finalized in Lucknow.
As far as the Ahmedabad franchise is concerned, Shreyas Iyer, who parted ways with Delhi Capitals, would lead them. Hardik Pandya, Quinton de Kock or David Warner could be on this team.
The mega auction is likely to take place in the first week of January. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said in a statement that this may be the last time the mega auction will be held.
