Over 2 lakh cases have been registered in India and hundreds of deaths are being witnessed all over the country. The rate of virus spread is just unstoppable and daily a new record has been broken since the outbreak of the pandemic. Already, under lockdown 5.0, many relaxations and exemptions were given to the citizens but this is something bigger.
This is all about India planning to resume international commercial passenger flights in the month of July. Already, the inter-state transportation was allowed and now all trains have started to get back on track. Now, the aviation ministry says that there are high chances to open international airlines from July.
Talking about the practical possibility of this most crucial decision from the aviation ministry, resumption of commercial international flights depends on several factors. To begin with, domestic civil aviation operations, which restarted after a two-month gap on May 25, will have to see an increase in the number of flights being operated.
Currently, 1/3rd capacity of the summer schedule is permitted by the ministry that means 33 percent of the overall capacity of the flights are in the air. Based on the present circumstances, Aviation minister Hardeep Puri stated that domestic operations will have to touch the 50-60 percent mark for international flights to become viable. Let’s see what happens.
