At this phase of the AP politics, the Telugu Desam Party is very much desperate for a leader who represents their already detonated party at the crucial stage. The 2019 election result just perplexed Chandra Babu Naidu and he is bothered between the correct mix of the seniors and the young leaders. In that dilemma he seems to be neglecting several experienced leaders and one of them is Panchumarti Anuradha from Vijayawada.
BC leader Panchumarty Anuradha has been in the TDP since the 2000s. Anuradha belongs to the Padmashali social class. She also served as the Mayor of Vijayawada Corporation. However she was away from the party for a long time after that. Anuradha came on the political grand stage again during the 2014 elections after the partition of the state.
She expected an MLA ticket back then and the efforts for that have been underway since 2017 for an MLA ticket in 2019. Panchumarti had high hopes for Mangalagiri in Guntur district, which has a large Padmashali community. Chandrababu who wanted to give her recognition in the party offered her the MLC seat. However, Panchumarty insisted that she wanted an MLA ticket.
But, all her hopes were ruined when Chandrababu’s son Lokesh competed from Mangalagiri. With this, Anuradha, who was deeply disturbed and stayed away from campaigning in the elections. However Chandrababu consoled her to take the centre stage in the party and she came before the media only to criticise Jagan. In the course of this, party ranks were given recently. The party gave parliamentary seats and Anuradha’s name was not featured in the list.
So, except for the mayor’s post in the party in the 2000s, there is no preference for Anuradha now. Against this backdrop, there are indications that Chandrababu is preparing to give her a Mangalagiri Assembly ticket. However, it has a time limit of three years. It is noteworthy that Panchumarty is still dissatisfied with the analysis of what changes will take place in politics by then and she may lose the ticket for the second time and all her efforts she did put in the party may go in vain.
